  • Be bondable.

  • Provide the Nominating Committee with a written statement as to "Why I want to serve on the Board of Bayer Heritage FCU," along with a resume, no later than one (1) month prior to the Annual Meeting date. Incumbent Board Members are exempt from this requirement, but they may provide a written statement if they desire.

  • Complete modules V-100, V-101, V-102 of the Volunteer Achievement Program.

Thanks To Bayer HFCU!

Dear Bayer Heritage,

Sometimes we don't take the time to thank someone for their kindness in times of trial. I was facing a strike at my plant and asked different places that I owed money if I could pay the interest till things got settled or our situation improved. You were the only ones that gave us that relief. Everyone else wanted full payment. For this we are very grateful to you. Helping us out at our time of hardship makes us feel we can come back to you for any of our future needs. Thank you again for your act of kindness toward us.

Dollar Dog will be making the rounds again this summer so be sure to stop by your local branch or visit www.bayerhfcu.com to learn about upcoming events.

Our money-savvy canine will be on hand for the Report Card Drawing. For each "A," students will receive one entry in the drawing for a $25 Gift Card. To enter, kids should take their report cards to their credit union branch by June 30.

Kids will also get a Summer Fun Pack to take home and enjoy. There's kid-friendly information on saving money and a coloring sheet to return to the credit union, for another special treat! So don't miss out - get the kids involved in learning about saving and having fun at the same time!

'Holding' Your Card!

When you use your Debit Card for a purchase, the store or business that takes your payment requires an authorization from the credit union before it accepts your card. When the credit union gives that approval, the "pre-authorization hold" will reduce, or place a "hold," on your Checking Account balance. The "hold" remains until the money is actually transferred, usually from one to three days after the purchase.

Can The 'Hold' Amount Be Different From The Purchase Amount?
The amount of the "hold" is determined by the store or business where you make your purchase. It's important to note that the "hold" amount can differ from the actual purchase amount. An increased amount is often the case at the gas pump or at a hotel where the final price is unknown at the time your Debit Card is approved.

Some gas stations use a standard "hold" of $1, while others impose larger amounts. Here is an example of a larger pre-authorization when paying for gas at the pump:

Before you pump the gas, the machine on the pump is programmed to pre-authorize a certain amount of money (sometimes up to $75) to ensure the merchant will receive his or her money. Once you finish pumping gas, the pump will reverse the pre-authorization and charge your Debit Card for the actual amount. Occasionally the gas pumps are offline or the merchant settles the account only once a day or every few days. The real-time withdrawal from your account is thus delayed until the merchant completes the transaction.

Solution: Choose 'Credit'
There is a solution. You can avoid the larger pre-authorization "hold" on your account by choosing "credit" rather than "debit" when given the choice. That way, there's no "hold" and questions about the balance in your account.

Important IRA Notice

Payments from your IRA are subject to federal income tax withholding, unless you elect no withholding.

You may change your withholding election at any time prior to your receipt of a payment. To change your withholding election, complete the appropriate form provided by your credit union.

Withholding from IRA payments, when combined with other withholding, may relieve you from payment of estimated income taxes. However, your withholding election does not affect the amount of income tax you pay.

You may incur penalties under the estimated tax rules if your withholding and estimated tax payments are insufficient.
